About The Holistic Self-Care Kit Company
Allison Rose-Mannall, founder of The Holistic Self-Care Kit Company

Hello, lovely. I'm Allison.

I'm Allison Rose-Mannall, founder of The Holistic Self-Care Kit Company, a Norfolk-based wellbeing business with a whole lot of heart, a healthy dose of sass and a rather ambitious woman behind it.

I'm a trained holistic practitioner, a disabled SEND mum, a wife, a grandmother and someone who knows exactly what it's like to be running on empty while everyone else still seems to need something from you. If you've ever felt overworked, underslept and completely out of f*cks, you're in the right place. Pull up a chair, get comfortable and let me tell you why this little business means so much to me.

Where it all began

Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I was raising my children and trying desperately to get people to listen to my concerns. As a SEND mum, I spent years feeling dismissed, misunderstood and made to believe that everything was somehow in my head. I knew something wasn't right, but getting anyone to take those concerns seriously was an entirely different matter. The constant fighting, the exhaustion and the feeling that nobody was really listening eventually contributed to a breakdown, and it's an experience that has stayed with me ever since.

What I remember most isn't just how difficult those years were, but how incredibly alone I felt. When you're the person everyone depends on, there isn't always somebody asking how you're coping. And sometimes, when you're doing everything you can just to get through another day, the last thing you need is someone suggesting a nice bubble bath and an early night. Lovely idea, but perhaps they could also arrange the childcare, sort the paperwork and convince your brain to switch off while they're at it?

Those experiences shaped so much of what came afterwards. I knew I couldn't change what I'd been through, but I could use what I'd learned to help someone else feel a little less invisible.

The personal journey behind The Holistic Self-Care Kit Company

From The Balanced Mum to Frazzled Mum Fix

Over the years, I continued learning, training and developing my understanding of emotional wellbeing, holistic approaches and the different ways we can support ourselves through life's more challenging moments. Eventually, I recorded my Balanced Mum course, bringing together my personal experiences and professional knowledge to offer mums something practical, understanding and genuinely supportive.

It was after recording that course that I created my very first aromatherapy blend, Frazzled Mum Fix. I wanted the mums watching and learning to have something tangible they could use alongside the course, a little ritual that encouraged them to take a moment for themselves and put some of what they were learning into practice. It wasn't about pretending that a roller bottle could magically solve the chaos of family life. Believe me, if I'd discovered an essential oil that could make everyone put their shoes on the first time they were asked, I'd have retired by now.

But I did believe that those small moments of self-care mattered, particularly for women who were so used to putting themselves at the bottom of the list that they'd almost forgotten they were on it. That first blend became a self-care kit, and from there, The Holistic Self-Care Kit Company began to take shape. At the heart of it was a message I wished somebody had given me during those difficult years: I see you. I believe you. And I care.

More than a box of lovely things

What began with SEND mums has grown into something much bigger. Today, I create handcrafted aromatherapy blends, crystal-inspired wellbeing gifts and carefully curated self-care kits for people navigating all sorts of life's challenges. From overwhelmed parents and exhausted carers to teachers, teenagers and people living with chronic illness or disability, my aim is to create products that feel personal, thoughtful and just a little bit different from the usual self-care offerings.

My work draws on my training as a holistic practitioner, including aromatherapy, coaching and emotional wellbeing approaches, alongside years of lived experience. I'm particularly interested in the way sensory experiences, familiar scents and intentional routines can become meaningful reminders to pause, breathe and reconnect with ourselves. It's an approach I bring into the rituals surrounding my products, because I believe self-care should be something you can actually fit into real life, not another impossible task on an already overflowing to-do list.

And while I absolutely love beautiful packaging, crystals and a bit of sparkle, I'm not interested in creating products that look lovely but have no thought behind them. Every blend and kit starts with a person, a feeling or a situation I recognise, and the question of what might make that moment a little easier.

That's also why you'll find some rather cheeky names amongst my products. Life can be difficult enough without pretending we're all floating serenely through it with perfect hair and an immaculate house. Sometimes you need a little calm. Sometimes you need a laugh. And sometimes you need something called Overworked, Underslept & Out of F*cks because, frankly, nothing else quite sums up the day.

Building a business that works with real life

Running this company has been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done, but I won't pretend it's been easy. I use a wheelchair and live with significant physical health challenges, which means the practical realities of making products, attending events and growing a business can be rather more complicated than I'd like.

In 2026, I achieved something I'd dreamed about when I opened my own shop in Norwich. I was incredibly proud of that little space, but I eventually realised that keeping a permanent retail premises wasn't the right way forward for either my health or the future of the business. Closing it was difficult, especially after putting so much of myself into making it happen, but it wasn't the end of The Holistic Self-Care Kit Company. Far from it.

I'm now focusing on growing the online business, meeting customers at selected events and developing a travelling blends bar, taking the products and the experience directly to people in a way that's more flexible and sustainable. My ambitions haven't got any smaller. If anything, I've become more determined to build a brand that reaches well beyond Norfolk, without losing the personal connection that made me start it in the first place.

Along the way, I've been incredibly proud to receive recognition through the Prestige Awards and as a Top 50 finalist in the UK Small Business Awards. Those achievements mean a great deal, particularly as someone building a business around disability and family commitments, but the moments I remember most aren't always the ones involving certificates or trophies.

They're the conversations with people who finally feel listened to. The customer who comes back because a small act of kindness stayed with them. The person who tells me they felt understood when they'd been struggling to find support elsewhere. Those are the moments that remind me why I do this, and why I want to keep going.

I'm glad you're here

Whether you've found your way here because you're looking for a thoughtful gift, a little sensory comfort, a moment of calm or simply something that makes you smile after a particularly ridiculous day, I'm genuinely glad you've arrived.

I can't promise that life will suddenly become less chaotic, that the laundry will put itself away or that everyone around you will miraculously stop needing things. What I can promise is that the products I create come from a place of understanding, professional knowledge and a genuine belief that you deserve some care and attention too.

Because behind every blend, every gift box and every slightly inappropriate product name is the same message that started all of this.

I see you. I believe you. And I care.

And as I like to say, I've got a blend for that.

With love and a little sass,

Allison
